The Journey to Self-Acceptance: Dealing With Comparison and Insecurity as a Woman

 Comparisons and insecurity is a problem that affects many individuals including Christian women. In this digital era where social media has exposed us to the lives of others, this has increased comparison and insecurity. We see their successes and their perfect relations and their luxurious lifestyles, it's easy to feel inadequate and unworthy when we compare ourselves to their highlight reels. Here are some practical tips to help deal with this;

1. Focus and project your strength; You need to always remember that every human being was created uniquely by God and instead of dwelling on what you see as your weakness, focus on your strength. Celebrate your unique qualities and talents, and learn to appreciate the things that make you who you are. By focusing on your strength, you can grow in confidence and purpose, and make an impact in the world around you.

2. Use social media for good; Instead of comparing yourself to others on social media use it as a platform to learn, grow in knowledge, and spread positivity. Share your struggles and triumphs, and offer support and empathy to others. Social media is where content is made to perfection,  and the best version is put out, so it can be a breeding ground for comparison and insecurity. Limit your time on these platforms and avoid accounts or content that trigger negative thoughts. Follow and feed on content that educates, entertains, informs, and makes you better.

3. Change your thoughts; It's ok for some negative thoughts to creep in; for example, if you catch yourself thinking " I'm not good enough" reframe it to "I am enough, just as I am". You can shift your focus from what you lack to what you have by practicing gratitude. Remind yourself that your worth is not defined by your appearance, social status, or accomplishments.

4. See the good in others; Everyone is a work of God's creation, learn to open your heart to appreciate the efforts and the good works others are doing, this way it takes away any thought of insecurity from your heart. Instead of comparing yourself with others, seek to learn from people who are doing well in your field. It's ok to be at the learning phase of your life, everyone doing so well was once in the learning phase.

5. Ask God for confidence and self-esteem; Pray that God helps you to see yourself as He sees you, and to give you the confidence you need to pursue your goals and dreams. Let him open your mind to all the good. God gives you the ability to know your strength and allows you to use them in a meaningful way

In conclusion, comparison and insecurity are tricks of the devil to take you away from God's divinely ordained path. This makes you focus more on what others are doing and derails you from seeing your own abilities. By praying, focusing on your strength, seeing the good in others, and reframing your thought as a Christian woman, you can grow in confidence and purpose, and make a meaningful impact in the world around you.
