"Then this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps because an excellent spirit was in him, and the king gave thought to set him over the whole realm." (Daniel 6:3, NKJV). This verse talks about Daniel being distinguished above others because he has an excellent spirit.

 What does it mean to have an excellent spirit?

An "excellent spirit" can be seen as a positive and virtuous attitude that influences one's interactions with others, their work ethic, and their relationship with God. It involves striving for the highest moral and ethical standards, displaying kindness, love, and compassion, and pursuing excellence in all aspects of life while giving glory to God. Proverbs 17;27 says; He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit. This goes to say that an excellent spirit comes from a place of consciousness. Someone with an excellent spirit is careful with what takes up their time, energy, their thought, and the words they say.

Fact about manifesting the spirit of excellence

There is a lot of misconception about the spirit of excellence.

Excellence is not perfection; Some people think it means perfection or superiority. The spirit of excellence doesn’t mean that you have to be perfect, it simply just means your best effort. We are humans and are bound to make mistakes, but we must learn from them and continue to thrive for excellence.

Excellence is a choice; It’s important to know that excellence is a choice, you can choose to manifest excellence in your daily life or choose to be mediocre the choice is up to you. But choosing to operate in excellence would completely turn your life around, you will find yourself being drawn to things that bring value to not just your life but that of those around you.

Excellence is rewarding; when you start to consciously walk in excellence, the reward is so amazing. You will start experiencing good success, just like Daniel who got promoted above his equals.

How do I develop the spirit of excellence?

You can develop an excellent spirit by putting a guard over your heart. King Solomon said it best: “Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life” (Proverbs 4:23). Consciously surrounding your thoughts on things that are of good reports and praiseworthy you will not only grow spiritually but you will start living in excellence. Prayer is another way you can develop an excellent spirit, by asking God to give your grace to live life with a positive and virtuous attitude. Meditating on the word of God also other ways, there are some very practical ways of meditating on god words day and night. This includes; developing a personal bible study routine, listening to songs that have the word of God as lyrics so you can sing these words all day, and reciting biblical daily affirmations.

In conclusion;

Manifesting the spirit of excellence is not a destination but a continuous journey of growth, determination, and integrity. It is a mindset that embraces opportunities for improvement, setting higher standards for oneself, and consistently pursuing greatness in all endeavors. Excellence demands discipline, resilience, and a positive attitude that turns setbacks into stepping stones. Moreover, it necessitates humility and gratitude, recognizing that the pursuit of excellence is not a solo endeavor, but one that involves learning from others, seeking feedback, and supporting those around us. May God continue to strengthen us as we consciously choose to live an excellent life AMEN.
